Demographics

IBiS continues to be an institutional leader in recruiting and retaining underrepresented students. While underrepresented students make up 14% of Northwestern graduate students, 20% of Life Sciences graduate students, and 9% of Physical Sciences/Mathematics/Engineering students, they make up 22% of IBiS students. This reflects the long-standing commitment of the IBiS program to increasing diversity in STEM. We recognize, however, that our student population still suffers from underrepresentation and will continue to expand our efforts towards diversification.
